Even though I don’t consider myself a superstitious person I like to believe in the things I feel make my life more fun. Chinese Fortune Cookies being a very important part of this.
This last week I got the following three “fortunes” (yes, I have been eating out a lot):
And then Maribel, a nurse from the Heart Hospital got me this really cool bag as a going away present. So sweet! I love it! The dietitians and diet techs also got me the gorgeous bracelet you see above to match my earrings. So great! I guess this is one of the perks of working with mostly women
Here’s number two:
Could this be any more appropriate? New job, new haircut, hopefully new website soon…
Speaking of new haircut, I got this fortune cookie just minutes before my hair appointment:
And just to make sure I didn’t waste such a fortunate date I also made some other decisions that you’ll hopefully be able to see very soon!
In case you are wondering, these very accurate chinese fortune cookies are a courtesy of Pei Wei. Go get some!
The day after we drove back from California we left for Canyon Point. We were really tired and I’m not sure where we got the energy to go camping but we are so glad we did.

When I was little my mom used to tell me that being dirty was a good sign that I had lots of fun. I guess this is proof then that this was one very fun camping trip:

The weather was much cooler than here in Phoenix and just the fact that I got to eat smores made it all worth it! And as Julie said, food cooked over an open fire always tastes so much better!
They looked pretty good to me:
Curt, Melissa and I took a short little walk to the Sinkhole:
I wasn’t really sure what a sinkhole is, but for some reason I was expecting water (maybe because of the word sink
). Well, there was no water but it was still really pretty. Here they are at the bottom:
It’s funny how camping has really grown on me. Before I met Curtis the thought of living without a bathroom and sleeping on the floor didn’t even make any sense to me. And most definitely didn’t sound like it could be any fun. I really enjoy it now but I’m still a rookie… I woke Curtis up in the middle of the night to announce that I was minutes away from freezing to death. His response? “Are your vents closed?” Me: “Huh, what?? Are you sleep talking?? Pleeease warm me up. Hurry!” After much confusion and me trying to bury myself under him to get my blood flowing again, he explained to me he was talking about my sleeping bag! What?? Sleeping bags have vents?!! Why didn’t you tell me that before?! So, I guess it still doesn’t all make sense to me, but I’m getting better

There’s nothing better than family! Curt’s brother – Matt, and his wife – Melissa came to visit us for a week and we had so much fun
While Curt and Matt were in Vegas for the wrestling Olympic trials, I took Melissa to a baseball game and to the zoo. They are from Montana and it was about 112 degrees here. I almost killed her! Sorry Missie! I am so glad we got to spend some time together. The more I get to know Melissa the more I love her.
When the boys got back from Vegas we all drove to L.A. and spent one day in Disneyland and one day in Huntington Beach. Casey (Curt’s cousin who lives in L.A.) came to hang out with us on the beach and it was really awesome to see him.
Here’s Melissa and I at the restaurant:
Curtis and I at California Adventures:Here’s our really good attempt at getting a group shot:
Rollercoasters are sooo much fun. Who wouldn’t love to feel this:
(yeah, go ahead and laugh)
Melissa and I hung out on the beach while the boys went surfing. They had these huge boards and they were so embarrassed, but Missie and I thought it was hilarious
Thanks for the visit guys and come back soon! We had a blast and really miss you guys already.

Every time I do a maternity session I always hope that I’ll be able to meet the baby. So I was super excited when Leeana called me to photograph Aliyah. Aliyah is so perfectly beautiful! She has the most gorgeous eyelashes and the most perfect little smile. Grandma was also there and it was great to be able to capture 3 generations of beautiful women!
