I feel so so special to be invited back into my clients lives to document the arrival of their little ones. I photographed Aimee and Loreto’s wedding last year in St. Louis and I was so excited when they announced they were expecting their first baby. Today I got to meet little Aden. He’s just such a perfect little boy.

Lawson

It was so special to get to meet Lawson yesterday! He is by far the most easy-going baby I’ve ever photographed. I’m sure it helps that both his parents as just as laid-back. I remember raving about Krista being such a great bride – never worrying if her dress was getting dirty, sitting down on the dirtiest spots and just going with the flow, all in the name of pictures. And Kelby may not be the biggest fan of having his pictures taken, but he’s always game too – no matter what. And Lawson seems to take after them. He let us take him from room to room, change outfits, lay him on top of a box and never complained. Yes, I’m pretty in love with him.

Krista and Kelby, thank you for welcoming me into your home once again, and for allowing me to document Lawson’s cuteness!

If you’ve been following my blog for a little while, you probably recognize Krista and Kelby. It’s funny how I never met them until their engagement session, since Krista booked me as their wedding photographer over the phone, but I feel like I’ve known them forever.

I met them at their house today and it was so fun to see my photos all over their walls. Besides, Krista has super great taste and an awesome eye for decorating. Just wait until I go back for newborn photos and you get to see the baby’s room. So perfect!

I feel like the first year of your first child is probably one of the most remarkable years of a couple’s life and how fun to be able to document it all and display it in an album to look back on and share with your family, friends and your children as they grow.

Last Tuesday, Kristin’s mom called me and asked if I could photograph her daughter’s wedding that following Saturday. I had been saving that day as my day off since it was my birthday weekend, but I just couldn’t say no to her. And I am so glad I didn’t. Kristin and Brian had a beautiful wedding in her mom’s backyard and there was no shortage of love, joy and happy tears.Kristin’s engagement ring is so unique:They had a little help cutting the cake from their guests of honor. Their adorable twin nieces:Cheers to the happy couple and many more beautiful days together.

Ahh there’s just something about babies that brings so much peace and happiness to my heart. My dear friends Daniela and Matt welcomed their baby girl just 4 days ago and today I stopped by for a quick visit. I snapped a few photos and thought I could share them with you.

Today I met up with the Neideffer Family to attempt some family portraits. However, Miss Aliyah wasn’t having any of it. She was as happy as can be on her own, but not really into sharing the spotlight with her parents. Leeana and Don were such troopers though! Thank you guys so much! I had so much fun and I thought you deserved to see at least one image of your little Miss Independent tonight. She is just the cutest!

Avery is Lauren’s sister-in-law whose family I photographed just last week and it is pretty apparent that they are all one big gorgeous family.

I’ve missed my boss!

I love Pam! Pam was my boss while I worked as a dietitian at Banner Baywood Heart Hospital. It is hard to believe we actually worked together for 5 years! Pam is such an incredible person. She has always been supportive of me not just in my growth in my career as a dietitian but even in my photography endeavors. Pam was one of the first people who let me photograph their family. Brave woman!

I still remember the knot in my stomach as I walked in her office to announce that I was leaving. It was awful! I didn’t want to let her down, she had been such a great mentor and I loved my job there but I just had to leave and try new things. As I should have expected, Pam was so gracious and while I know she was disappointed I was leaving she was once again incredibly supportive.

I was so happy to see her last week for some quick family portraits. Seeing how much her kids have grown makes me feel so old!

I was so excited when Lauren contacted me about my “Holiday Family Portraits Special”. Lauren is a cardiovascular ICU nurse and we worked together back when I was working at the hospital and only dreaming about having my own photography business. Lauren is like a real life TV character who is gorgeous, smart, kind, and amazing at what she does. The last time I saw Lauren at the hospital she was still pregnant and now her little one just turned one!

Allen Family Portraits

Cutest family you’ve ever seen? Yes, I know, I know… my clients are the cutest! And this is one of my favorite images I’ve ever taken!

It had been a while since I shot a family session and it was so great to meet the Allen family and capture some fun family moments for them. Lori is an internet marketing manager for 3TV & www.azfamily.com, she’s smart, gorgeous, funny, and (sorry guys) married. She’s working on her own branding and needed some updated photos that show her awesome personality. Lori is “like a mullet… business in the front and party in the back”… Her words, not mine

For part of her session we went to the Royal Coffee Bar, a coffee shop owned by one of Lori’s friends. I loved this space! It is a good fusion of modern and cozy.

Meet our daughter Luisa. Yes, I know most people start out with babies, but not Curtis and I. When it comes to parenting we skipped straight to adolescence. Not that we ever planned it this way but it just kind of happened.

One of Curtis’ friends told us that there was an exchange student supposed to be coming here for her senior year of high school but her host family for the year fell through and she asked if we would consider taking her. I said “Sure!” and Curtis looked at me in shock: “Sure?!!? Are you crazy?” Me: “Why not? ” And so one week later our daughter arrived. I wish babies were that fast too.

Where do I begin? Lee Ann is such an impressive woman. She is so elegant and classy but at the same time completely down to earth and incredibly funny! It’s a rare combo but she really is all that! I also have to say that I wish I could steal Lee Ann’s accent. I just love to hear her talking!

And a big bonus? Lee Ann used to live in Charleston and therefore was an amazing tour guide for all of us.

Lee Ann, you are amazing and I can’t thank you enough for waking up at 4 am (with a big smile on your face) to take us to the airport when our taxi didn’t show up. Thank you, thank you, thank you! You are amazing.

Meet little Ian. Almost two weeks old and oh so perfect!

I drove down to Tucson for this session and it was so great to spend the afternoon with this family.

Ian’s mom, Viviane, is also from Brazil and prepared the most delicious brazilian meal for us. Thank you so much, Vivi! The left over pao-de-queijo didn’t even make it to the end of your street

3. My husband couldn’t stop laughing as he pointed out to me that even during a newborn session I find a way to photograph shoes (and I thought that might make you laugh too).

Vivi and David, thanks again so so much! You guys are so great! I wish we lived closer as I have a feeling we would be BFFs I hope I get to see you all again really soon.

How cute are they? I had so much fun with the Russo Family this last Saturday. It was pouring rain when I first got there, but the rain slowed down for a while and we got some great images. This photoshoot was all about Cleo. She’s getting older and Amy and Gary wanted to make sure they had some portraits of her. Isn’t she the cutest?

Earlier today I shot Candace’s senior portraits and we had so much fun!

Candace is such a sweetheart. She’s really into photography and wanted some “cute, girly, frilly, pictures as well as some graffiti backgrounds” and I think we totally rocked it! We still have one more part to her “Totally You” session and I can’t wait to spend some more time with you and your family, Candace!

Yes, I know your hair is a little out of place, but I still LOVE this picture!

Our first photogether of 2009 was soo much fun! For this year, I assigned a month to each photographer to plan whatever they want to and Annie Randall went above and beyond for her month. She organized an awesome vintage shoot with complete hair, make-up, an awesome location and 6 of her friends to model for us! I spent most of my time with Lauren and Paige and here are some of their photos. Thanks girls! You were so much fun and it was soo nice to meet you

When I got back from Mexico last Sunday, I had lots and lots of text messages waiting for me. I had to keep deleting so I could receive the next batch. Lots of them were for Christmas and Holiday wishes. Thank you so much everyone. I am sorry I haven’t gotten back to you, I promise I will. Soon! And one of the texts was from Kat wanting to do a photoshoot with her son and her parents. I called her back and thankfully her parents were still in town! I am so glad we did this. I had a really great time and capture some awesome moments of this family together.

You might recognize Xander, as we did a shoot earlier in the year. Just him and Kat. It’s amazing how much he has grown in such a short period of time.

If you have read my blog before you will probably remember Amelia. We met in Ireland while attending the Zero-60 Workshop. We stayed in the same house while in Ireland and became friends really fast. There were countless amazing experiences during that time, but in my opinion what sealed our friendship was our love for chocolate brownies and Irish milk at 3 am!

This past week Amelia came to visit me. She was really excited to come visit the Valley of the Sun and get some super cool desert shots. However, it rained the entire time she was here. Sorry, Amelia! We braved the rain anyways and I got these shots of her.

What a fun shoot! Three families, eleven people, three kids, one teenager, one newborn and two dogs! And surprisingly it all went incredibly smoothly. The McEuens rock!

This one makes me laugh a lot because I asked Candice if she belonged to the family on the left and she said no so I thought I had just gotten confused and placed her in the middle (as you can see below)… Well, come to find out she does actually belong to the family on the left where I had her initially (next to her dad). What’s the best thing about having super cool clients?? It’s that they refer you to their super cool friends! I honestly can’t say enough good things about the Krager family. We met up last weekend and I had such a great time with them! They were so easy going, fun and as you can see absolutely gorgeous! So let me introduce you to the clan:

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE photographing high school seniors and Aleisha made me love it even more! On Aleisha’s questionnaire she told me she wanted a little of everything for her photos “soft, graceful, edgy, trendy, fun”. Sooo, we went to work and did just that. We had a blast and I love every photo, so it was hard to choose just a few for the blog. For those of you who watch Stylista, Ashley was on the losing team yesterday because she was unable to edit her photos down to just a few for the final layout. Big Mistake! So I tried to keep that in mind today, but I couldn’t help it. I guess I’m on the losing team tonight.

Carol’s Grandsons

Carol called me a while back wanting to get some photos of all four of her grandsons together. A lot of things have come up in her life and we had to keep postponing their photoshoot, but I’m so happy to say that I finally got to meet them and that it was totally worth the wait!
